Considering CoolSculpting®

Is CoolSculpting® for me?

If you have unwanted fat, it could be. It’s not a weight-loss solution, but rather for those who have stubborn, hard to shift fat. Think of it as a non-surgical alternative to liposuction.

Your first step should be to speak to a CoolSculpting® healthcare practitioner to see if this is a suitable procedure for you.

Can CoolSculpting® reduce fat anywhere on my body?

CoolSculpting® treats the visible fat bulges in the upper arm, bra fat, back fat, banana roll, submental and submandibular areas, thigh, abdomen and flank. Your physician will create a bespoke treatment plan that’s tailored to your individual goals.

Can CoolSculpting® treat my chin area?

Yes. Freezing away fat from a chin can be as tolerable as using the CoolSculpting® procedure in other parts of the body (e.g., abdomen, waist, thighs). With CoolSculpting® treatment on the chin, patients may see results after just 2 visits.

Where does the fat go? Are the results permanent?

Once the treated fat cells are crystallised (frozen), they are naturally processed and removed from the body. Once the treated fat cells are gone, they’re gone for good. See How it Works to learn more.

Is the CoolSculpting® procedure safe?

As the leading non-invasive fat-reduction treatment worldwide,* CoolSculpting® has a well-established safety and efficacy profile. Our controlled cooling devices have built-in safety measures with sensors that detect when the skin is getting too cold. The system then shuts itself down automatically.

*Based on 2020 HCP tracking market research in Canada, Spain, UK, Australia, China, Japan and Thailand (N=1344), and Q1 2021 US tracking market research.

The treatment process

What does it feel like?

As the cooling begins, you’ll feel a sudden cold which soon dissipates. With certain applicators, you may feel some pulling as suction is applied. After the treatment, you may feel tingling where the area is massaged for approximately 2 minutes. Patients can usually return to normal activities following their appointment. For more information about what happens before, during, and after your CoolSculpting® procedure, see What to Expect.

What should I tell my physician?

During your initial consultation, you and your physician will discuss your medical history to see if CoolSculpting® is right for you. It's important to tell them if you have cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease or paroxysmal cold haemoglobinuria, as you shouldn’t have CoolSculpting® if you suffer from any of these conditions.

How long is the treatment?

Your physician will work with you to create a bespoke treatment plan tailored to your specific goals. The length of your CoolSculpting® treatment will vary depending on the number of areas being treated during one visit. The CoolSculpting® technology can treat a patient in as little as 35 minutes per treatment depending on the area being treated.

After your treatment

Are there any side effects during the procedure?

You may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping at the treatment site. These sensations may subside as the area becomes numb.

Are there any side effects following the procedure?

Typical side effects can include redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, skin sensitivity and numbness. Numbness can persist for up to several weeks. There may be a sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after submental treatment. These effects are temporary and usually resolve within days or weeks.

For a full list of side effects, please see the CoolSculpting® Manual.

Can I return to normal activities after my treatment?

The CoolSculpting® procedure is completely non-surgical, so patients can typically return to normal activities almost immediately. Patients often return to work directly after their CoolSculpting® treatment. This varies between people and may be dependent on your treatment area.

I’ve had my CoolSculpting® procedure. Now what?

Make sure to schedule a follow-up assessment with your CoolSculpting® physician to review your results.

When will I see results?

Considering CoolTone®?

Is CoolTone® for me?

If you are looking to strengthen, tone and define your abs, buttocks, or thighs, your first step should be to speak to a CoolTone® healthcare practitioner to see if this is a suitable procedure for you. CoolTone® is currently available in select locations only. Please use the clinic locator to find a CoolTone® provider near you.

What is CoolTone®?

CoolTone® is a non-invasive muscle toning treatment that can take your body contouring results further, helping you to strengthen, tone and firm your abs, buttocks, and thighs.

How does CoolTone® work?

CoolTone® uses magnetic muscle stimulation to send electrical impulses that contract your muscles more powerfully than sit ups and squats, resulting in stronger, more toned muscles. Our technology is based on muscle science and elite athletic performances – warming up, toning, firming, and strengthening your muscles while also providing active recovery, which helps to prevent soreness after the treatment.

What does CoolTone® treatment feel like and how will I feel after?

Each CoolTone® treatment takes 20 – 30 minutes depending on the area being treated. Muscle stimulation is delivered through the applicator and your practitioner may adjust the intensity as tolerated by you. During treatment, you will feel a series of involuntary, deep muscle contractions over the targeted area that will last for a few seconds followed by a period of rest.

CoolTone® treatment is well tolerated with minimal pain immediately after treatment. You may experience muscle pain several hours after treatment. You can continue to maintain your usual diet and exercise routine after treatment.

How many CoolTone® treatments do I need and when can I expect to start seeing results?

You'll be assessed to confirm if you’re a candidate for CoolTone® treatment and develop your personalized treatment plan. For most patients, 5 to 8 treatments are recommended over the course of 2 to 4 weeks to reach their body contouring goals. In the weeks following your treatments, you'll notice that treated areas will be more toned, firmer, and you will feel stronger.

How much does CoolTone® treatment cost?

The price for CoolTone® varies depending on your areas of concern, the number of treatments you need per area, and your ultimate goals. Create a customized treatment plan, in person, with your CoolTone® healthcare provider that’s tailored to your body and your goals.

How long will my CoolTone® results last?

Muscles may lose some of their strength and tone over time if they are not maintained through your usual exercise routine. Regular maintenance treatments are recommended to maintain your treatment results.
